Friends were faced horrendous weather when they took on the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales to raise money for Help For Heroes.
The five-strong team battled howling winds and lashing rain to climb a total of 3407m, or 11,178ft when they tackled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours.
Ricky Humphreys, 24, of Chippenham, said: “The rain was torrential and we saw three people getting rescued from Ben Nevis – two were being flown down by helicopter and one on a stretcher.”
The group, Ed Gillams, of Rudloe, Henry Lee, of Calne, Andrew White, of Wootton Bassett and Aaron Davies, of Gloucester, aim to raise £5,000 for the services charity Help For Heroes.
They were helped by TH White of Wootton Bassett, which lent the friends a Land Rover Defender to use.
Mr Humphreys, a property consultant, said: “We have raised £3,000 so far but with gift aid that makes around £4,000.
“I still have eight personal trainer sessions which were donated by The Gym to raffle so we should make it.”
